Job Description: Complete kitchen rip out and refit

This kitchen was not a small job. The customer required the window moving from one wall to the other which would let in at least 30% more light plus a stylish breakfast bar which was to reside in an an area where there was an existing wall which needed removing.

The existing kitchen was ripped out, the floor was removed and levelled and the window was moved swiftly. We then came across a problem because the customer wanted a wall knocking out. The wall that we were to remove had two lintels balancing on it which could have been extremely dangerous.

As you can see from the photos below we had to prop up the side external wall of the house and fit a new, safe lintel in order to remove the wall.

We also found a gas main pipe that had been drilled and TAPED UP which was actually leaking into the wall cavity. We immediately called a gas engineer and had the gas pipe properly capped to make it safe.

Once this had been done it was simply a job of plastering, laying floor tiles, skirting tiles, then lining all units up, fitting them solidly together and to the walls and making sure every detail was finished correctly. All the plumbing was refitted on the other side of the room and routed to existing outside drains. All electrics were taken care of by a qualified electrician.

Also you will notice that we had to cut round edges into the worksurfaces. We were told this could not be done properly but as you can see from the final images it was a very tidy outcome that looked like a composite granite finish.
